Μάλιστα, μόλις το το BBC δημοσίευσε τις πρώτες επίσημες φωτογραφίες από τη σειρά, προκάλεσε αρνητικά και ρατσιστικά σχόλια επειδή οι ηθοποιοί που υποδύονται τον θεό Δία της ελληνικής μυθολογίας καθώς και τον αρχαίο Έλληνα Αχιλλέα και τον φίλο του Πάτροκλο, είναι μαύροι.
Πολλοί ήταν και αυτοί που απείλησαν ότι θα διακόψουν τη συνδρομή τους από την υπηρεσία Netflix και BBC One.

Nothing against David Gyasi, but having him play Achilles in the BBC drama Troy: Fall of a City, is simply stupid virtue-signalling blended with ill-conceived and badly miscalculated social engineering. It will stoke racism, not reduce it.
